What is the Yahoo Feedback Loop, and how do I set it up and use it?

What is the Yahoo Feedback Loop (YFL)?

Yahoo Feedback Loop is a service that notifies you when a recipient marks your email as spam. This feedback lets you:

  • Identify issues: Find out which emails aren’t relevant to your customers.
  • Maintain a good reputation: Minimize complaints and improve the deliverability of your campaigns.
  • Optimize the mailing list: Delete inactive or inappropriate contacts and improve the overall quality of sent emails.

Step-by-step: How to set up the Yahoo Feedback Loop

  1. Creating an email inbox for complaint management
    • We recommend creating a dedicated email address in the format:
      postmaster@example.cz.
    • This mailbox will be used to receive feedback from Yahoo.
  2. Register for Yahoo Feedback Loop
    • Go to the YFL portal: Visit Yahoo Complaint Feedback Loop.
    • Login: Log in with your Yahoo account or create a new account if you don’t have one yet.
    • Fill out the form: Enter all required information:
      • The domain you send emails from.
      • Contact email address (ideally the one you set up to handle complaints).
      • Additional information required by Yahoo (e.g., company contact details).
  3. Approval and configuration
    • After dispatching the form, Yahoo will contact you to let you know whether your request has been approved.
    • Once your registration is approved, you will automatically receive abuse reports in ARF (Abuse Reporting Format).
  4. Feedback monitoring and analysis
    • Regularly check the email inbox where YFL sends complaints.
    • Analyze the data: Find out whether certain segments of your database are generating a higher number of complaints.
    • Optimize your campaigns: Based on the information gathered, modify content, dispatch frequency, or clean your mailing list to reduce the rate of messages being tagged as spam.
  5. Regular maintenance and optimization
    • Contact list update: Remove addresses that repeatedly generate complaints.
    • Testing and monitoring: Regularly monitor the deliverability of your emails and make changes to your campaign settings as needed.
