Can I insert an MP4 or other video into an email?

Although it’s technically possible to attach a video file to an email, we strongly discourage doing so because:

  • the vast majority of email clients do not support video playback,
  • video files in reasonable quality and dimensions are too large, and most email servers won’t accept them at all,
  • By dispatching such a message, you risk the target server marking it as unsolicited (SPAM) or even as fraudulent.

We recommend uploading the video to a streaming platform like YouTube, Vimeo, Streamable, or others, inserting only a video thumbnail with a play-button icon into the email body, and linking that image to the video’s URL.

Before dispatching, don’t forget to check the entire email, especially the video link, in an incognito window so you’re sure it displays correctly for everyone.
